how can i transfer money from vietnam to the uk?
i am living in vietnam and the job that i do i get paid in cash, could you tell me how i can put this money into a uk account, i have tried western union and they said it was not possible but surely there is some way?? any help much appreciated.

Yes, Vietnam government doesn't alow to transfer the money abroad. If you want to transfer, you will have to fill in many many documents and all in all, very difficult. There are some ways you can try: 1. There is always some black way to send the money. Go to Ha Trung Street and ask the Gold Shops there, they can transfer the money to you. 2. Use paypal to send money. Put your money to an paypal acount and send to another account. You can send the money to your relative accounts 3. Use credit card to send money to send money. 4. Bring cash when you back to your country 5. Ask some branches of foreign's bank in vietnam to do this Good Luck!!

There is a back door way of doing it without forms or limitations of how much you transfer before getting taxed. Get a main stream major credit card via the Vietnam branch... Amex, Diners, etc.. Buy a few things. At the end of the month when you get your statement, it might say you owe $100 for example, but instead, pay in higher amounts. Keep a copy of your original statement of money owed and when ever you have money to spare, pay it. When you go back to the UK, make a cash advance on that credit card through the sister office in UK. Because you are drawing against your own money, you only have the advance fee. Voila`. How to get thousands legally and tax free out of Vietnam. Another, is to convert your cash into gem stones and resell them when you get home. You get a higher price for them in the western world which makes a profit for you greater than the sales tax you have to pay. Another is to set up a Western Union on-line account. Transfer money from your VN credit card via Western Union to a recipient in UK who you trust that can deposit the cash into your bank. Be aware that Western Union fees are fairly high. There are holes in all those answers above.. Find a Britt who's retired here and draws his pension from England. Preferably one who has a netbank account. He transfers x amount from his British account to your British account each fortnight or month and you pay him here in dong. Works out well for both of you. He doesn't have to pay ridiculous overseas withdrawal and conversion fees( I forked out $8000 in 6 years!) and you don't have to worry about doing anything that may, or may not be considered illegal. As long as you both have access to netbank to see the transactions take place you won't have any problems. There are plenty of retired Britts living here.

Yes you can use Western Union, it's expensive but it works,you find those counters almost everywhere in walking distance in VN check out their VN website: http://www.westernunion.com/info/homePage.asp?country=VN&origination=PY the receiver will have the money within 60 minutes able to pick it up at a Western Union counter at the destination country, you just forward the transaction numberby SMS or phone after delivering the money here. As said it's not cheap but we are using this service for years from all around the world to get our loved ones home into quick payout of cash, most of the countries we are travelling to don't allow outbound transactions from local private bank accounts. The higher the amount of money you send the lower the %age of fee, it's good to deliver local currency as they have a really bad exchange rate on foreign monies.
