How do tropical plants survive without rainfall over the dry season, which can be 5 months long?
I live in Vietnam, where the rainy season is about 6 or 7 months and it rains every day. Jungles thrive here, but I don't know plants can survive the dry season, which continues for 5 months, often without any rain at all.

I would assume that during the rain season they must take some of the water into some kind of reserve to sustain themselves over the dry season, or maybe they go into some kind of hibernation, like bears do over here (in the US) in the winter. I'm not sure, but those are two explanations that make the most sense to me.

Cause those plants have long root systems and tap into underground water sources.
