Unless you are sent there by a foreign company to work, it will be extremely difficult to get work. If you did get work, the pay will very very low. It's a beautiful country to travel to and the costs are reasonable.

good luck

The best prospect is to become a teacher of English. First, get certified through such program as CELTA http://www.cambridgeesol.org/teaching/celta.htm to gain the proper credentials. You can be trained and certified for CELTA in Vietnam http://www.languagelink.edu.vn/celta.asp by native English speakers (Americans and Australians). That way, you can enter Vietnam with a student visa. People who got certified in CELTA often find work as soon as they got through with the course, especially in Vietnam, so that's the best way to proceed. Language schools in Vietnam usually sign either a 6-month or a 1-year contract with a teacher, which can be renewable, of course. It takes some advance costs ($1500 in tuition for CELTA, pretty much anywhere in the world) ) plus living expenses for a month but you will recoup the investment pretty quick after you graduate. It isn't exceptionally hard but it ain't easy either! It's very worthwhile, of course. P.S. Thanks, Rick M for the compliment and confidence. I'm pleased to be of help when I can.

a few years back i met a young american man traveling throughout asia he stopped in viet nam , took a meanial job at a bar. now 7 years later he not only runs the bar but an exclusive hotel in mui ne. often in nha trang westerners can get jobs as "hawkers" fo bar and reasturants for little money , or just room and board.. its a lot of funn "...if i was 10 [maybe 25] years younger....."lol

Tom T is correct (as usual) in that most foreigners find work as language teachers. Without knowing your educational and work background, it is difficult to recomend any kind of employment. The following site may help, it is a Vietnamese job board and training site. http://www.vietnamworks.com/?lang=2 One suggestion I would make is to spend a month or two living in Vietnam as a tourist to see if you like it first. It is a very beautiful country and the place where I will soon retire, but it's very, very different from where I grew up (America). One thousand dollars a month will enable you to live very confortably while you travel and explore. You may even meet a future employer in your travels. Good Luck !

yeap been there done that, spend 27 months looking for a guy name CHARLIE so I could blow him up wasn't so hard except he kept hiding from me
9 :
Yes, you can work as a English teacher (very popular in Vietnam even you have no teaching skill). Or you can work for a non government project. Or - do you think to be a tour leader for a travel company? Happy working
10 :
I don't know to be honest.

I have a male friend did the same, at first he only thought about enjoy holiday, but after he could get some teaching works at English Centres at Hochiminh city, everything became more interesting, I hope you will have the same

Which is a cheaper holiday Vietnam or South Africa

Which is a cheaper holiday Vietnam or South Africa?
Chosing a holiday for this summer, I guess in terms of currency conversion and cost of living Vietnam would work out cheaper?

Vietnam is cheaper, its safer and more places to visit

Vietnam. Its cheap enough and theres alot to see and do for example northern Vietnam with Halong Bay and the Sapa hill tribes to visit. Down south is Phu Quoc Island and you can get there by boat via Rach Gia, the island is like some of the islands in thailand but barely touched by tourism. All these are fairly cheap to do inc the overnight trains throughout Vietnam which are safe. The country is safe, most people understand english but common sense is advised like any other place really. Good luck.
