1. Drinking water from an unsafe source (that means anything that has not been boiled or that does not come from a sealed container.) 2. Using or selling drugs (you may face the death sentence if caught dealing drugs.) 3. Patronizing prostitutes (you'll face arrests, imprisonment and STD's) 4. Traffic accidents (the roads are extremely crowded, especially with a large number of motorbikes...) 5. Careless handling of money and valuables (the crime rates are extremely low but you still have to be careful of petty thefts and price gouging...learn how to haggle/bargain for lower prices.)

Higher prices.

The majority of foreigners who live in Ho Chi Minh teach English in language schools I think. Absolutely I'm not about to compare the life in Vietnam with the life in the US. You probably realize some privations in Vietnam. But not that bad :) VN is a developing country. You can find it enjoyable to live in VN, especially HCM city. You might have found out about VN right? The life is not bad at all! Exciting, amazing...! People, food... everything are OK :) And you should learn how to drive motorbike. It's damn cool, believe me ^^! Anyway, it's up to you :) Good luck ^_*!

Things are slow and getting slower. I'd think twice or have money of your own to live on.

I would suggest you come here for a visit before making the BIG move. Vietnam is not everybody's cup of tea. I'm leaving soon after having been here for 7 years. The cost of living has skyrocketed over the last 18 months. There's very little value here now. Make sure you've got a plan B to fall back on that includes access to money. Don't know what they're paying English teachers these days but it wasn't much when I first arrived here. And most importantly of all. Make sure you have medical insurance...

Việt nam sống dài....I just typed in 'long live vietnam' at the website vdict.com/?autotranslation
2 :
Việt nam sống dài
3 :
Việt Nam muôn năm.
4 :
HVS gives you the correct phrase :" Viet Nam muon nam ! " I should point out one thing " Viet Cong " is what the Americans and Vietnamese call the communists ( North Vietnamese Army ) Viet Cong never chant : " Viet Cong muon nam" They chant : " Cach Mang muon nam"
5 :
Ooooohhhhhhhh! What happened? You wanna write a poem about Vietcong? lol! Việt Nam Muôn Năm is what it is translated in Vietnamese Việt Cộng Muôn Năm = Long Live Viet Cong What are u studying by the way?
6 :
Mr Cando's answers is the best. Cach mang muon nam - long live the revolutionaries. Although viet nam muon nam is technical correct, it is unlikely to be used by viet cong. Viet cong would never referred themselves as viet cong. That is an americanized term.

Looking to open new tourist office in Vietnam where should i go Hue or Hoi An

Looking to open new tourist office in Vietnam where should i go Hue or Hoi An?
I recently purchased a tour agency here in Hanoi, I have been living in Vietnam now roughly for the last 3 years and been monitoring tourist flow and traffic throughout Vietnam. Both places have oppertunity, but im lookiing for people that have traveled there and what kind of tours they had purchased in those city and the satisfaction level of said cities. So roughly what city did you have the worst tour experience for the money you paid Hue or Hoi An, Vietnam?

I have "toured" both Hoi An and Hue. I would probably pick Hue over Hoi An if I had the same opportunity as you. My opinion is based on size and number of attractions. Hoi An is basically Old Town, which can be walked through in about half a day with the highlight being shopping for tailored clothes. Hue has the Nguyen Temples, the Purple City, the Perfume River, etc. Hue has many more things to see and more reason to consult a tourist office. I thought Hoi An reeked the scent of being tourist trap while Hue seems much more majestic. Having been to both, I would revisit Hue because I enjoyed the experience and want to see more. I would visit Hoi An again only if I want a tailored suit. You really can't go wrong with either choice. Both cities have an abundance of tourists flocking into the streets. Choosing a busy traffic location is going to be more important than which city. Good luck!

George, I am prejudiced toward Hoi An because I live here but the previous answerer had some good points. . Remember that the beach area between Hoi An and Danang is growing exponentially. Many new attractions are beginning to be explored, (like our Jet Ski Tour company) You will do will in either city so good luck and make it fun for yourself.

Think Hue is more of a destination than Hoi An where many are stoping as the pass through on their way up or down the coast (maybe that's only me). Everyone seems to offer day tours in Hue but there are many places to lead tours too, probably more than Hue. Personally I think I would go for an office in Da Nang. Big city with loads of destinations close by and from what I've seen not many tour offices. Doug
