I lived in a real nice huge three floor concrete barracks at Kadena AB for 6 months in 1968. The base was very well kept up. A bit humid, lots of sun, always a steady breeze. We were very close to the shore, but then most of Okinawa is. A very Americanized base. Lots of families had their American cars shipped there. I'll never forget how meticulous the Japanese people are when it comes to beauty. In front of each of the barracks, there is a grass lawn, then a concrete sidewalk then a strip of grass in between the sidewalk and the curb and the street, just like back in the world. Each of those grass strips along the streets were surrounded with a rectangle of carnations defining that area of grass, very beautiful. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=26.35269,127.770095&spn=0.035533,0.068665&t=h&z=15

Yes and no, if your mother was American he has a right to apply for citizenship but if she is not all you can do is try to sponsor his citizenship either way you sponsoring him will greatly increase his chances also of he was born here or on a us military base he can apply for citizenship.

I don't see why not- talk to someone in Immigration in your city. I know many Viet & Thai families who have been through what you are describing. Good luck! Try this search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=54a&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=immigration+requirements+from+Vietnam+to+the+US&spell=1

yes, you can. First you need to consult with your lawyer in US. They will tell you what's paper work you need to do. If you pay them to do it for you (which I recommend), it will save you time. Remember, do not pay money for anyone in Vietnam who say that will help you with paper work. As long as your paper works follow procedure, your half brother will be contacted by US official in VN for interview...The lawyer will tell you how long. It is very slow now. Good luck.

no........

1st how old is your brother? If he's older than 18, it's more difficult because he's an independent adult. Second, if your mom is US citizen and your brother is under 18, she can sponsor him because he's under age. Do not hire a lawyer, they only take your money. Check with US immigration to make sure he's eligible for your family to sponsor him. Lawyers are mostly crook, you can certainly do it yourself if you follow the US immigration guidelines. Check out the green card lottery section to see if he's qualified. http://www.immigration-bureau.org/ superbeaugosse1- If you don't have the answer or suggestion, don't post here because you just wasting everyone's time.

Will a Western-style Subdivision of Modern Homes and Condominiums near Hanoi, Vietnam Be a Commercial Success

Will a Western-style Subdivision of Modern Homes and Condominiums near Hanoi, Vietnam Be a Commercial Success?
A European real-estate development company owned by Vietnamese expatriates is buiding a subdivision of luxury villas (from 2,200 sq.ft to 11,000 sq.ft) and condominiums from 750 sq.ft. to 970 sq.ft) in Ha Tay Province near Hanoi. This type of housing is being built to accommodate Vietnamese expatriates, primary from Europe and America, who have returned (or will be returning) to Vietnam to live and work (or to retire). Do you think the developer will be successful? Do you think many Vietnamese expatriates will come back to live in Vietnam?

personally I think the sizes you mentioned are to big that could be a draw back. 11,000 sq feet is a 1000 sq meters. the condos sound about right. Difficult to invest that kinda of money in a state run government

YES

As you well know Tom, the success of Doi Moi and Vietnam's acceptance into the WTO has led to "American" style conspicuous consumption. Although I am unfamiliar with Hanoi in general, I believe the project will be a great success. While an 11,000 sq ft house is certainly way over the top, there will be more than a few Vietnamese who want or (for business reasons) need a house that says' Look at ME, I AM A SUCCESS !!!). When people have so much money that cost means very little or nothing at all , then comfort, desirability and ego take over. Even Al (Carbon Footprint) Gore has a 10,000 sq ft house in Tennessee. This doesn't make them "bad" people, only what we "yankees" call Very Comfortable. LOL I think that in addition to ex-pats buying vacation/business homes, the wealthier Viet nationals will be clamoring to live there as well. As an enlightening side note, when I left Tan Son Nhut in November, I had an interesting chat with the driver of a new Mecedes-Benz 600 SEL (Viet cost @ 300K usd) who was waiting to pick up his Viet national boss. He told me that business was going very well ! I am sure that the marketing research for this project has been reflective of the capital investment required to bring it to fruition. As long as the craftmanship, ammenities and location are top-notch, they'll do fine. One last thing to remember, The cost of a palace in Vietnam is a fraction of the American or European cost, which will probably get written off as a business expense anyway. Who knows, they'll probably have guided tours of the neighborhood when all is said and done.
