Basic monthly costs for living in Vietnam

Basic monthly costs for living in Vietnam?
Roughly how much is an apartment to rent monthly... and which area of Vietnam would you suggest to live in? Haven't decided whether or not to work there yet. What sort of options are available to Koreans and New Zealanders? Thank you in advance to any useful answerers.

Call their embassy for information. I bet they can help you.

The cost of living for foreigner's in Saigon/HCMCity is expensive and getting more so. Though basic accommodations such as a room in a guest house is fairly reasonable. A nice room with AC, hot water shower, cable TV, phone, with laundry costs me about $300.00 a month You can probably find places in the back packer area of Pham Ngu Lao cheaper but I don't like the grunge factor. Apartments are expensive, probably an average one is around a thousand dollars US. You normally have to sign a lease and what else I'm not sure. Houses can be rented in about the same range, I think people sometimes share a house. Food is very cheap, a dollar or so will get you a meal and a special restaurant maybe at six or seven US dollars. A haircut $3.00, beer on the street $.50 in a bar $1.50. If you leave the City centre or go out into the country side things are much cheaper but its hard getting by if you don't speak Vietnamese.

Sidekick might work as a cell phone, but I doubt T-mobile services for Sidekick it is available in Vietnam. You should check the manufacturer and one of the cell phone services ni Vietnam to see if you can match the phone to a service. My personal opinion: It's gonig to be a very expensive cell phone, which has a lot of featrues that won't work ni Vietnam. Tell him to buy you a regular cell phone and a Bluetooth headset. You will still be the talk of Saigon..

Defiantly you have to grab every opportunity that you can,you never know where it may lead
2 :
Of course- the opportunities for learning would be tremendous.

There are a lot of Aussies in VN. My first visit to Ha Noi was 11 years ago and there were a lot of Aussies then! It is a dangerous place for single men. And I understand that many single western ladies that are pretty upset at the situation here (competition is pretty steep). VN is an interesting place. I would recommend that anyone who has the chance to come here should take it. (I am not Aussie.)

I am an aussie and i am so happy your question popped up just at the right time. I am currently in Vietnam ( ho chi minh city - saigon) and I love this place so much. I wanna come here as often as I could , I think after I graduate , I will find a chance to work and live here for a while. The people here are very friendly to me, I have made some friends and they drive me around , its so fun. I love clubs here too. You could find stacks of westerners in clubs here. The only problem I heard in clubs is that as a single man, you should watch out for prostitutes in disguise, they dress up nicely in clubs and wait for some rich looking , single man to " fish " . Otherwise, its a great place to be

Its a great place. Friendly people, good food and a dynamic economy. The biggest hassle is learning how to cross the roads (in Ho Chi Minh anyway). Being single really isn't a problem, just use common sense.
6 :
Hmmm, good qn!! Im single, 23 and would love to work and travel overseas so yeah!! But 1-2 yrs is a long time so I probably would cut it down some ...
7 :
As long as you are able to adapt to the cultural differences and suitable arrangements are made for you to live, then yes I'd go for it. I liked the people I met. My choice would be north (Ha Noi) rather than Saigon/Ho Chi Min, but views differ.

I am a Vietnamese living in Vietnam. I want to open a company in the US?
I want to start a joint-venture company in the US with my aunt who is a US citizen now. What should I do?

If you want to start a company then start it.

The US has no barriers to entry for foreigners owning companies (except in areas of national security). If you want a JV, then your aunt need to incorporate the company. That's pretty easy and can be done for less than US$100. You just need to register with the state you want to incorporate in, make a public announcement in a paper of record for a specific period of time and then that's basically it.
