Fishing in VN is very different from what you are used to (if you grew up fishing in North America)! I watched a lot of people fishing in West Lake in Ha Noi, and one of the most popular "techniques" is to throw a heavy weighted multi-barbed "lure" - like a weighted treble / quadruple hook, and jerk it back to shore - and try snag a fish.
