Lyndon Baines Johnson escalated the Vietnam war based on a deliberate lie, with the falsified Tonkin Gulf resolution. The US had a treaty obligation to be in Korea but no reason whatsoever to go to war in Vietnam.

I agree with the Korean War... As for Vietnam, no i don't agree, but we could've won with less losses if we invaded the north with full military might and no liberal ristritions, then allow the south to conquer the north... Whether you like it or not, 58,000 men in Korea died to liberat SK. Now SK has one of the largest economies and is a great ally. They owe their freedom to us. Culter Warrior, if you idiots learned from ur mistakes, electing another Jimmy Carter would not be the right answer...

Though Democratic presidents supported and executed the war in Vietnam, most of those opposed to it were liberals. The reason that the Democratic party was against the war in Iraq was that the Democrats learn from their mistakes, unlike the now defunct Republican party.

I think some of that also happened on Republican Nixon's watch, including escalations and retreat, and plenty of those deaths. Republican Nixon expanded the war into Laos and Cambodia, what was he thinking? The Democrats were wrong to wage war against Vietnam. Bush was wrong to wage war against Iraq. Both wanted to grab something that didn't belong to them.
