What should you do and take if you are six weeks pregnant

What should you do and take if you are six weeks pregnant?
We live in Vietnam and the OBGYN here told us not to worry about prenatal vitamins until later in the pregnancy. My wife eats a pretty healthy diet anyway, but is this correct. I've been reading alot on the internet today because we just found out and had an ultrasound, but most of the websites I've seen say you need calcium, folic acid, and iron most. When should she start taking these? Also, she went in for a medical exam about 2 weeks ago and we didn't know she was pregnant. She got vaccinations to travel and an Xray. What problems could result from this. What do we need to look for? The vaccinations were Tetanus, Mumps, Measles, Rubella, and Diptheria. She didn't get sick from the vaccinations, and the ultrasound today seemed normal to everyone that saw it. She has had some pain in her stomach recently, is this normal?

When you are pregnant you need to take prenatal vitamins, if you can't get them take a regular one. if it can be helped don't have any more x-rays. I had stomach pain when I was 6weeks too, my doctor just told me it was my uterus stretching. Good Luck

calcium is very important during all stages of pregnacy. Because the baby takes so much of it to form its skeleton, your wife looses alot.Alot of pregnant women often have teeth problems after or during the last trimester because of this, I suggest Calcium immediatly. Folic Acid is found in alot of vegetables, and it is very important, alot of cereals are also high in Folic Acid. It is for preventing birth defects, and other stuff, it is also very good. Now Iron, I didn't take any iron what so ever, I just ate plenty of green leafy vegetables. "I don't like those little pills" But my iron level was fine during the whole course of my pregnacy. I hope this helps. And Good Luck!

I am by no means an expert, but going from my two pregnancies. First of all, I would definitely start taking the vitamins. They can only help! It will help that much more if you do start having any complications or problems later. Most doctors will reccomend that you take them BEFORE you start trying to get pregnant, anyway. so I don't understand why he would say not to take them now. As far as the stomach pain, some is normal, because your body is changing and there is a baby growing and expanding in that area. Just make sure to mention it to the dr. and if it gets severe or if there is any spotting. I am not sure about the shots. Keep reading up on pregnancy and stick to the recommendations. Good luck and congratulations!

you need to start taking prenatal vitamins NOW!!!! it has the folic acid in it that helps with early development of the fetus, if you start taking it later in the pregnancy it will do no good......sounds like you need a new doctor

Right now is a very critical time for the baby and he/she needs those prenatal vitamins. If the doctor didn't give them to her your could supplement her with like Flinestone Vitamins. I know it sounds funny but I can't take prenatal vitamins because they make me sick to my stomach and my doctor told me to take them. But she does need to be taking vitamins. You do need to get a second opinion too. I wouldn't listen to that doctor. But anyway GOOD LUCK and CONGRADS on the new little one!

XRAYS ARE DANGEROUS TO THE FETUS--ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST TRIMESTER! A PREGNANT WOMAN MUST HAVE PRENATAL VITAMINS--ESPECIALLY FOLIC ACID--WHICH PREVENTS SPINA BIFIDA.I DO NOT KNOW WHAT KIND OD OBGYN SERVICES/DOCTORS THEY HAVE WHERE YOU ARE LOCATED, BUT I URGE YOU TO LOOK ELSE WHERE TO BETTER PRENATAL CARE!

If its early enough in pregnancy many things wont harm because many people dont know theyre pregnant until 6 to 8 weeks and during that period they keep theyre normal activities. I would recommend prenatal vitamins or at least a childrens vitamin. But remember many women in dif countries and throughout history didnt have these vitamins and theyre children were ok, but if you can get em take em cant hurt but it sure can help.

Well I have only had one baby but I know she should be taking the prenatal vitamins. I would request them from the doctor or go to the local drug store and see if they are for sale. If not you can send me an email and I will go and buy some and send the to you. The baby should be getting everything he/she needs to grow and develop. I know she should be drinking lots of milk, grape juice, eating lots of leafy green veggies-Spinach and other items for iron. She should not get anymore X-rays and I would go back to the doctor and make sure that the vaccinations had/will not have any affects on the baby. Don't let her sleep on her stomach anymore either. Remember, even though the doctor said not to worry about the vitamins, go and ask for them anyway. It's her job to help with ANY request you might have. Hope I have been a little help to you. CONGRATS!!!

I started taking my prenatals the minute I found out I was pregnant... Also the folic acid is very important, specially in the first trimester. Besides her healthy diet, no caffeine, watch out for seafood, take prenatals, take folic acid, drink lots of milk.

An x-ray within the first 10 days post conception (prior to implantation) usually results in prenatal death... Between the 10th day and 6th week of pregnancy central nervous system abnormalities result...commonly leading to early childhood death if not prenatal death.. Hope everything works out for you too
