Why are age and sex discrimination still practiced throughout Asia

Why are age and sex discrimination still practiced throughout Asia?
I am an American living in the Philippines. I used to live in Vietnam. It seems so strange to me that they get so hung up on age. You never see anyone over 30 doing a public job. No wonder everyone looks so young. They are young!

No idea. Personally i would never want to live in an enviorment like that. And im 20!

They think that younger people are more efficient and, out of respect, they don't think older folks should do certain jobs. Also, most older folks are well-taken care of by their families and they usually stay home to help raise the grandchildren.

It's out of respect for the older ones and because women are weak. Never mind that service suffers in the long run. No one from Asia believes how old the flight attendants are in America. Or that people retire from the military to start another job. It kills the economy. You need to put older people to work. Stop forced retirement at any age. Let people work until they drop dead of old age (if that's what they want to do). In most of Asia that's illegal. You can learn a lot from the older ones. And you can get a lot of service from them. So what if a boss is younger than an employee? Yeah, that's not respectful, is it?
